Caesium is a terrific little photo compression tool by Matteo Paonessa that makes your digital pics easier to store and share. This free tool makes quick work of compressing your JPEG, PNG,. Method A to method E are lossy compression. JPEG is a lossy format, Converting an image from other formats( e.g. PNG, BMP ) to JPEG format will cause quality loss. However, compressing an existing JPEG image with method F and G will not change quality, the transformation is lossless, making it easy to reduce image size without losing quality. Image is processed with a lossy filter that eliminates some pixel data. Image is processed with a lossless filter that compresses the pixel data. The first step is optional, and the exact algorithm will depend on the particular image format, but it is important to understand that any image can undergo a lossy compression step to reduce its size.
A cross-platform tool for losslessly optimizing PNG and JPG files for web. Trimage is a cross-platform GUI and command-line interface to optimize image files for websites, using optipng, pngcrush, advpng and jpegoptim, depending on the filetype (currently, PNG and JPG files are supported). It was inspired by imageoptim. All image files are losslessy compressed on the highest available compression levels, and EXIF and other metadata is removed. Trimage gives you various input functions to fit your own workflow: A regular file dialog, dragging and dropping and various command line options.
